I met Dyer the gunner several years ago and he always had a soft spoken tone in his voice. But when he did say something we listened because of the way he expressed his words. He will be missed and the service this Wednesday will be an honor for me to be part of. He sure was a nice guy and a great Marine, I am happy to call him a friend. My prayers are with him and his family in this sad time of losing a great person as he was.
I first met the chaplain at a church retreat In 1999, Dan recruited my husband Lt Col Jack Nahrstadt to become the chaplain for Civil Air Patrol sqd 45 .Jack remained chaplain till his death in 2007.I have remained CDI officer, I talked to Dan a few days before God called him home.I remember Dan as a proud marine, always wearing his marine uniform to the many conferences we attended together.We will miss him,but I am sure that he is at rest with many family and friends. May our good Lord, give you the strenght to carry on during this period of grief.
