Alene M. Slater's Obituary
Alene was born in Elk, Kanawha County, West Virginia on July 28, 1927. She was married to Edmond M. Slater on June 9, 1948 and moved to Highland, CA. where she raised her family and completed an AS degree in nursing at San Bernardino Valley College in 1979, after which she worked as an RN at St Bernadine’s Hospital for ten years in the newborn nursery. She wrote letters diligently to keep in touch with friends and family, loved music, square dancing and round dancing. She will be remembered always for her; love of family, wonderful stories of growing up in a large family during the Depression, whimsical animal egg paintings and her delicious pies. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edmond and her son Alan and is survived by her children: David (Cindy) Slater, Joel (Laurel) Slater, Teri (Kevin) Byrne, 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. “In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the charity of your choice.”
