Corey West, born to Dorothy Jean West and Harvey West in Los Angeles, was a cherished son and brother, hailing from the roots of Waldo, Arkansas, and Homer, Louisiana. He passed away on October 22, 2023 in Redlands, CA, leaving behind a legacy that touched the lives of many.
As the youngest of three boys, Corey shared an unbreakable bond with his siblings. Though he mourned the loss of his brother Jeffrey David West in December 2000, Corey found solace and strength in his mother.
Corey is survived by his daughter, Cheyenne Page, son, a niece Chiara West, nephew Jeffrey West, and Dwayne West. His absence will also be deeply felt by a network of cherished cousins: Sonya Milne, Charles Wills, Donovan Roy, Jameaka Roy, Derrick Roy, Russell Westbrook, and Clarence Westbrook. He held dear friendships with David Griffin, Al Griffin, and Melissa Gomez, whose companionship brought light and joy into his life.
Corey's journey began in L.A. and continued to bloom in Rialto, CA, where he and his mother relocated in April 1985. His early years shaped his character - an intelligent and independent spirit that resonated in all facets of his life. Corey was passionate about living life on his terms, expressing his thoughts with passion and embracing his unique path.
Sports ignited Corey's passion, especially football and basketball. His athletic prowess shone brightly in the Inglewood Pop Warner League and later at Chaffey College, where he carved a commendable career in football. Beyond the field, Corey dedicated himself to work, spending years at a manufacturing company as a forklift driver.
Corey's presence will be profoundly missed, but his spirit lives on in the memories and hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy is one of unwavering determination, individuality, and a zest for life that inspired all fortunate enough to cross his path.
