Frank Theodore Gonzales Sr.'s Obituary
Frank Theodore Gonzales, Sr., 56 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at UCLA Ronald Regan Medical Center.
He lived in San Bernardino, CA and is survived by his wife Eleanor Castaneda Gonzales, his son Frank Gonzales Jr. of Cherry Valley, his daughters Adriana M. Gonzales of Colton, Elaynah R. and Elyssah J. Gonzales of San Bernardino. He is preceded in death by his mother Anita G. DeWitt and survived by his father James F. DeWitt of Apple Valley, as well as his father and stepmother David T. and Diane Gonzales of Highland, his brothers Donnie Gonzales of Yucaipa and Paul M. DeWitt of Apple Valley, his sister Peggy A. Schluessler (Charlie) of Rosemount, MN as well as his mother and father in-law Robert and Anita Castaneda, brother in law Edward V. (Andrea) Castaneda, sister in law Eileen M. Castaneda all from San Bernardino and a Host of Family, Friends, God Children and Compadres.
He was born and raised in Redlands, CA; graduated in 1985 from Redlands High School. For many years he worked as a Tow Truck Driver; working for San Bernardino Towing, A & B Towing and J & K Auto Body & Towing. Frank then went on to begin his City career with the City of Rialto where he served as a Street Maintenance Worker. He then became employed and retired from the City of Moreno Valley. During his 23 years with Moreno Valley he served as an Equipment Operator, then became and retired as a Street Maintenance Supervisor. While working with the City of Moreno Valley he became a member of the MSA Organization which he enjoyed not only being a member but eventually serving as Vice President.
Frank also was a member of The Cursillo Movement. He lived his Cursillo in 2002 then went back to work multiple Cursillos and eventually served as one of the cooks. It was during these events that he was able to enjoy serving the men living their weekend and fulfilling his commitment to the movement.
His hobbies included: cooking, baking, exploring nature, meeting new people, and spending time with his family. Frank was known for his love of New Mexico Hatch Chile. He enjoyed driving out to NM to buy it, then returning home to roast and make chile con carne and salsa with it; and recently chile rellenos. When Frank made his chile, he loved sharing it with friends and family. Most of all, Frank loved spending time with the loves of his life and best friends; his wife Eleanor, their two daughters Elaynah and Elyssah, as well as his dog Halo.
