Helen Prieto Leon's Obituary
Helen Prieto Leon 92 died Wednesday September 4, 2019 at her home in Colton, CA surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born on February 21, 1927 in Palm Springs, CA. Her family is a part of the Palm Springs Historical Society since immigrating there in the early 1900’s. She was a part of The Colonia Mexicana Member’s in Palm Springs during her younger years. Helen worked as a teacher's aide for 17 years at Colton Joint Unified School District until her retirement. She enjoyed watching the Dodger games with her husband Chuck and spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband’s John Olvera and Chuck Leon, her sons Jeff (Goolie) Olvera and Ernie Leon. Also, her grandson Jeffrey Olvera Jr, her brother’s Joe and Frank (Boy) Prieto and sister’s Virginia (Jeanie), Margaret (Peggy) and Dorothy (Dottie).
She is survived by her children Darlene Cruz, Tim Olvera, Jimmy Olvera, Lisa Stahl, Barbara Gutierrez, Pat Branham, Dolores Gilbertson, Henry Leon and her brother Oscar Prieto. Also survived by 27 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 16 great, great grandchildren.
Thank you for the memories until we meet again in heaven. You were a blessing to us and loved beyond words you will truly be missed.
Service’s to be held September 20, 2019 at Preciado Funeral Home 923 W. Mill Street San Bernardino, CA 92410. Viewing at 10:00 am, service at 11:00 am graveside service to follow at Montecito Memorial Park 3520 East Washington St. Colton, CA 92324.
