Juliette Edith Chartier's Obituary
Juliette (aka Juliet or Julie) E. Chartier (nee Busselle) passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026. Born July 13,1942 to Beatriz Busselle-Camblin (nee Carranza) and Carlos "Buzz" M. Busselle II in San Bernardino, California. She grew up alongside her younger brother Carlos "Buzzie or Buzz" M. Busselle III. She had two children, Donnie R. Chartier and Stacey C. Chartier-Grable and raised them predominantly as a single parent, supporting them in their endeavors such as sports, dance, and music. While raising them, she worked multiple jobs to support her family and pay for her education where she earned her bachelor’s degree from University of Redlands in Criminal Justice (1986). After graduation, she became a San Bernardino County Probation Officer where she helped formerly incarcerated people get back on their feet. She was incredibly creative and artistically talented; able to write, draw, paint, design, and build things that she used in her home. She defied the stereotypes of her time and didn't let them hold her back in her career and personal goals. She worked hard to buy her own home in 1987 and took great pride in decorating and remodeling it over the almost 40 years she lived there. In her spare time and retirement, she owned a sailboat and sailed in waters around San Diego, enjoyed reading mystery/crime novels, sewing, working on her yard and home, and traveling with her family and friends throughout her life. She had an intense and dedicated love for animals, of all kinds, and had many fur and feather babies throughout her lifetime, which she considered family. She was strong-willed, intelligent, stubborn, independent, and a dreamer. She loved her family and maintained deep ties with her mom, brother, children and cousins as well as her friends. She lived a full life, on her terms.
She is survived by her brother, Carlos "Buzz" M. Busselle III (Thanh) , her son, Donnie R. Chartier (Christina "Chrissy"), her daughter, Stacey C. Chartier-Grable (Donny), her grandchildren, Aaron, Dakota, and Riley Chartier, Quinten and Samantha Grable, and her great-grandchildren, Xavier and Azul Chartier. An intimate and private graveside ceremony will be held in July and a larger Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date to include all family and friends that are available.
In lieu of flowers, Juliette’s family would appreciate donations be made in her memory to the following animal rescue organizations (these are the ones who took in her animal tribe upon her entrance to assisted living).
