Ms. Mary Helen Marquez's Obituary
Helen, age 72, surrounded by her family, peacefully went to be with our Lord on Saturday, December 12, 2015. She was born to Mary Helen Grosso Dias and Felix Aparicio Cortez in Camp White, Oregon on October 4, 1943. She grew up and lived most of her life in Colton, California. She graduated from Colton High School in 1961. Helen’s greatest treasure was her family and extended family. Helen was a very giving person. She loved receiving family and friends into her home—everyone was met with a warm smile and a big hug. She was a living example to her family. Her family is proudest of her spirituality, strong constitution, devotion and never giving up on herself and others. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ray T. Marquez, daughter Rae Lynn Marquez Moya, granddaughter Mary Helen Marquez Cooper, and sister Sheila Anne Cortez Rios. Helen is survived by: one daughter, Janette Marquez, two sons, Ray Marquez (Sr.) and Ken Marquez (Sr.) and wife Valerie; five grandsons, Ken Marquez (Jr.), Raymundo Marquez, II, Robert Moya and fiancée Maggie Barajas, Ray Marquez (Jr.), and Roberto Velasquez; four granddaughters, Marlena Toscano, Kathleen Marquez, Raechelle Marquez, and Rebecca Washington; four great grandchildren, Anthony Toscano, Julian Hernandez, Annaliese Marquez and Lucas Marquez; and her sister Sharon Louise Cortez Castorena. Services: Viewing on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Preciado Funeral Home in San Bernardino, 4pm-6pm, with a Rosary at 6pm; Mass on Monday, December 28, 2015, at Church of the Immaculate Conception in Colton, at 10am; burial immediately following at Green Acres Cemetery in Bloomington. Reception following — place to be announced by family at the cemetery.
