Monica Jessica Hernandez's Obituary
A lifelong resident of Colton, Monica entered eternal rest on Friday, February 27, 2026, at the age of 65, covered by the love and prayers of her family.
Monica was born in Loma Linda to Ramon Cordova and Eloise Garcia as the youngest of four children. She spent her life in Colton and graduated from Slover Mountain High School in 1977. Pursuing an interest in healthcare, Monica earned a certificate in Medical Assisting and attended classes at San Bernardino Valley College. Monica dedicated many years to working as a phlebotomist, providing care and compassion to those she served.
Monica was known for being the life of the party and sharing her light with all those around her. She was a strong and determined woman. She overcame a lot of challenges throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered fondly for her perseverance and beautiful smile. She enjoyed cooking traditional Mexican food and making the hottest salsa! She was inviting and would eagerly try to feed you if you stopped by. She was always on the go, you could find her at Costco, Smart & Final or
Aldi.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and exceptional grandmother. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, whether taking a family trip to Disneyland, beach day or a vacation. In recent years, she slowed down and enjoyed married life. She was a foodie and loved trying new restaurants with her husband. She enjoyed tending to their garden and fruit trees. She spent quiet nights watching tv with her husband.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ramon Cordova and Eloise Garcia.
Monica is survived by her husband Peter Hernandez, children Alfred Munguia & Brandy Ponce, Eloise and Jennie Andres of Colton; siblings Louise Todd of San Bernardino, Nancy & husband Fidencio Macias of Colton, Ramona Valdez & husband Arcelio Hernandez of Colton, Benjamin & wife Connie Garcia of San Bernardino; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
