Pete Mendoza's Obituary
Pete Mendoza, 87, of Fontana, CA., went home to be with The Lord on February 14, 2024. Pete was an only child and was born to Lucio and Rafaela Mendoza on October 23, 1936. Pete was preceded in death by two of his sons, Louie and Michael, who were there to greet him into heaven.
Pete joined the United States Army after high school where he served in the 2nd Armored Division “Hell on Wheels” as an armored tank driver and also as a sharp shooter. After his Honorable Discharge, Pete worked as a steel worker for Kaiser Steel for twenty-six years. He would later retire as a cook from Patton State Hospital.
Pete is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dolores Mendoza and their sons Pete, Art and Nick. Also surviving him are nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
A public viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Preciado Funeral Home from 4-6pm. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 11:00am at Preciado Funeral Home, Committal service to follow at 1:00pm at Riverside National Cemetery with Military Honors.
