PORFIRIO G.MARTINEZ, 83,born September 26,1940.Born in San Bernardino, raised on KINGMAN STREET, as his brother JOHN G.MARTINEZ would say CALLE FAMOSA. Youngest son of GREGORIO N GREGORIA MARTINEZ The youngest of 7 siblings, JOHN G. MARTINEZ, EDWARD G. (CHINCHO) MARTINEZ, LOUIS G.(VICHO) MARTINEZ, MIKE G. MARTINEZ, MANUELA (NELLIE) MARTINEZ RODRIGUEZ, LOLA MARTINEZ.
He is survived by his 2 sons MICHAEL and RICKY MARTINEZ, daughter in law ROSEMARY, daughter VICTORIA GONZALES, preceded in death by his Wife ANGELINA and his son PORFIRIO JR, PEANUT. Grandchildren, ELAINE, VANESSA, ROXANNE, CHRISTINA, NICOLE, MANUEL JR, 8 great grandchildren IZABELL, JAZLENE, MIGUEL, JOHN, FRANCISCO, EVA, MICHAEL, OLIVIA.
PORFIRIO loved Hunting, Fishing and spending time with FAMILY and Friends. He also loved going to the Casino. He traveled to Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico for Deer hunts with numerous friends n FAMILY.
PORFIRIO worked for the City of San Bernardino and retired after 40 years, he worked maintaining all the parks in San Bernardino. Then he went on to work at AQUINAS HIGH SCHOOL as a groundskeeper, maintaining the football field and setting up the baseball field. After 4 years he retired from Aquinas.
In his younger years PORFIRIO managed 2 little league teams. He managed the Jr Giants at Ruben Campos Park for 1 year. Also the Yankees at Guadalupe Field for 3 years, his sister Nellie was team mother sponsored by RODRIGUEZ trucking Inc.
Five days before PORFIRIO passed we brought him back to his childhood home where he took his last breath on September 20, 2024 with his family around him.
PORFIRIO was Truly Loved and will be missed dearly. Gone but will never be Forgotten .REST IN PEACE!
Viewing will be from 3:00pm to 9:00pm with a service at 4:00pm on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at Preciado Funeral Home, 923 W. Mill Street, San Bernardino, California
