Shortly after graduating from Colton High School in 1970, Richard enlisted into the U.S. Army, 2nd Division Infantry where he served a full term in the Vietnam war alongside many friends and schoolmates, he then later joined the Air Force Reserves(1982-1989) and was stationed at Norton Air Force Base, CA, upon graduation.
