One of many of my treasured stops while I was on leave from the Military in the late 90's/early 00's was my Tio's house! Every time I was on my way to the Ontario or Los Angeles Airports from the High Desert, I'd always make the point to visit him and just sit in front of him and let him give me the a "once over." It was his silent way of making sure all my senior nco's wouldn't be getting a "shit bird" (Sorry he made me say that) with the name Trujillo on a US Army Uniform.

In the last days he remained in this World, he showed tremendous fight and the way I knew was one of my "buddy checks" when I would pay my many of what I had thought "last respects" would be, was to poke him to wake him up like an alarm clock and hum the "101" cadence to him. He responded every time with the proud proud hum of the "Screaming Eagles" cadence.

"He led with humor; he laughed that fear in its face. He joked to lead the charge; that you have to be a little funny to leave a silly place!"

I love you Tio! From your brother Joey's Family!
