Ruth Pedroza Barron's Obituary
In Loving Memory of Ruth “Cuca” Pedroza Barron
Dear Family and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved mother, Ruth Pedroza Barron, on November 2, 2024, just five days shy of her 95th birthday. Her departure has left an unfillable void in our lives, especially as we approach the holiday season, but her incredible legacy of love and joy will always be with us.
Ruth, lovingly known by some as “Cuca” or even “Cookie,” was a remarkable woman whose compassion, intelligence, and vibrant personality touched countless lives. Born and raised in San Bernardino, Ruth attended San Bernardino High School (class of 1949) before embarking on a beautiful life filled with family, passion, and service.
She is survived by her three loving sisters, Virginia Macias, Sarah Enriquez, and Stella Padilla, whose relationships with Ruth were deeply cherished and filled with countless shared memories. Her devotion to family extended to her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her many friends, all of whom she nurtured with her unwavering love and generosity.
Ruth and her late husband, Fred B. Barron, shared a wonderful marriage until his passing on February 2, 2022. Together, they raised five children, each of whom brought them immense pride and joy: David Barron (Heather), Matthew Barron, Richard Barron, Elizabeth (Lisa) Barron, and Gilbert Barron. She was also a devoted grandmother to her four grandsons: Joel Barron Quinones, Joseph Barron Quinones (Chelsea), Alex Barron, and Jeremy Barron-Ohiaeri, each of whom brought light to her life.
Ruth had a long and impactful career at Kaiser Hospital in Labor & Delivery. From 1970 to 2004, she dedicated herself to caring for mothers and their newborns during the night shift. If you delivered a baby at Kaiser Fontana during that time, there’s a strong chance Ruth played a vital role in your experience.
Her passions and hobbies reflected her love for life. Ruth enjoyed bowling, dancing, taking trips, cheering on her beloved Dodgers, and following her favorite soap operas—As the World Turns, The Guiding Light, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless. She also found joy in the thrill of slot machines and cherished spending time with family and friends.
Ruth was sharp and meticulous, balancing her checkbook to the penny and staying up-to-date on world events until the day she passed. She took pride in her vibrant memory of the past and shared her love of storytelling with everyone around her.
Ruth is preceded in death by her siblings: Carmen Pineda, Sylvester Pedroza, Bernardino Pedroza, Lupe Pedroza, Esperanza Barraza, Bessie Rodriguez, Beatrice Bracamonte, Jesus “Chuy” Pedroza, and Pano Pedroza.
