Ruth Than Coulson's Obituary
we miss you momma
They say memories are golden,
Well, maybe that is true;
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried;
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still;
In my heart you hold a piece
No one could ever fill.
But now I know you want me
To mourn for you no more,
To remember the happy times
Life still has much in store.
Since you’ll never be forgotten
I pledge to you today;
A hallowed place within my heart
Is where you’ll always stay.
If tears could build a stairway
And heartache make a lane;
I’d walk the path to heaven
And bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same;
But as God calls us one by one,
The chain will link again.

OBITUARY
On February 24 1954 Ruth Than Coulson was born in Wichita Texas to Drusilla Malloy and Charles Smith. During her academic years, Ruth was very active in sports where she excelled in track and field. Instead of going directly to a High School she decided to join Job Corps to gain her independence. After returning home she was a more independent and responsible woman with a heart of gold. Ruth was an active member in her community. She later joined the soft ball team “West Side Ball Player’s” with her family members. Ruth soon found the need to work with children when she formed a drill team called two shades of blue, which went on to win many awards. That drove Ruth to want to do more for the kids of the neighborhood where she grew up. She began volunteering at the local elementary schools as a teacher’s assistant and a lunch monitor. Never the less, she still found the time to maintain several jobs, while raising her own family.
While attending New Life Missionary Baptist Church Ruth and Willie Coulson were united in holy matrimony. Ruth’s family and friends would describe her as a loving, attentive, giving, creative, funny, and generous woman. She was so generous that she would give a stranger her last dollar if she had it to give. Ruth is well known amongst the community and showed her dedication to others by teaching children’s church at The Mission For Life Church in San Bernardino, CA. As part of her reach out services Ruth prepared home cooked meals and handed them out to the needy at the local parks. Just her act of giving within itself provided others with joy and hope. She always taught her grandchildren that no one is above anyone else and that a simple smile and hello can change the lives of those less fortunate.
