Velia Agundez Favela's Obituary
A loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Was born on November 6, 1938 in San Bernardino CA, passed away September 10, 2021, Velia had 3 sisters Josie, Margaret & Olga and 3 brothers Tony , Fernie & Joe Ybarra. She lived in San Bernardino all her life, attended Jefferson Elementary, Sturgis Jr. High and San Bernardino High School.
At age 15 she met her husband Raul “Vullico” Favela and fell in love, they were married on June 22, 1957 together they had 4 children Twins, Jeannie Dominguez , Jeannette Nava , Lizzie Delgado and son Rudy Jr. she had 3 son-in-laws, Henry Nava , Michael Delgado & Gilbert Dominguez.
After getting married to Vullico her family doubled in size she became part of the Favela Family he was 1 of 12 brothers and sisters. She was aunt to many nieces and nephews and had many Godchildren too! She has 5 grandchildren Jay Mota, Melissa Mendieta , Mark Nava , Matthew Delgado & Eileen Padilla, 8 great- children Jesse, Franky , Jeremiah, Jason , Aria & Remi , Giselle & Jaidyn, 2 great-great children Kaylani & Chris.
She acquired many friendships in her lifetime. She will forever be missed by all who were fortunate to have met her. Velia was very outgoing and had a good sense of humor, very reliable with a heart of gold. She was extremely generous , considerate and kind. She had a multitude of friends, many whom she had known since elementary school. For many years she enjoyed playing Bunco with friends. She was also very talented in making crocheted blankets, it was a joy to her to gift one to her many family and friends. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ, she loved sharing the word with all her loved ones. She attended many Catholic & Christian Churchs and bible studies and last she was a member of Impact Church Colton.
Her kitchen always had something delicious cooking on the stove, she always had beans, homemade tortillas and fresh salsa. Every Christmas she enjoyed making tamales and during Easter she always had to make Capirotada to share with others. She enjoyed going places, attending parties, social gatherings and to the casinos, and enjoyed her many vacations to the beach, Caribbean Islands, Cancun, Hawaii & camping.
Velia worked several years in the retail industry, she was employed at JCPenney, May Co which later became RobinsonMay, and then her last employment was Gottschalks. These jobs were perfect for her because she was a people person and enjoyed working at these places part-time. After she retired to care for her parents Manuel & Josie Ybarra. After retirement she couldn’t stay away from the Inland Center Mall, she made a weekly trip there and loved to shop at Macy’s. If you couldn’t find her at home all you had to do was go to Macys and you would find her.
Velia loved everyone, all her family a & friends took excellent care of her after she was sent home from the hospital in June on hospice, for those few months she was tended to 24/7 by one of them until she gave her last breathe in the comfort of home surrounded by all her loved ones. She leaves a huge void in many lives and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace!
