William Blanco Goodson's Obituary
William B. Goodson, 71, died April 3, 2019, at Loma Linda Hospital. He was born May 27, 1947, in Ft. Stockton, Texas the son of William Goodson Sr. and Juana Blanco Goodson. William moved to California, met and married Lucia Valdez and worked various jobs until drafted into the U.S. Army to which he served from 1966-1968 in Vietnam. His last duty assignment and major command was D TRP 17CAV 199TH LT INF BDE USARPAC. William received the National Defense Service medal, Vietnam Service medal, and the Vietnam Campaign medal. He is survived by his two daughters, Yvonne Sanchez, of San Bernardino, and Raquel Garcia, of San Bernardino; Fourteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; four sisters and their husbands, Neida and Stephen Springfield, of AZ, Linda and Paul Reed, of CO, Rosie and Tim Burton, of Riverside, CA, Gloria Goodson, of Fontana, CA. A service of remembrance will be held 10:30a.m. Tuesday, April 23 at Preciado Funeral Home, 923 W. Mill St, San Bernardino, CA. Interment will be at Riverside National Cemetery.
Anybody that knew William knows that he was a proud Veteran, pro- America, pro-Army and pro- Hawaii. There will be a reception at 1564 W. 6th St, San Bernardino, CA 92411 following the interment to celebrate his memory with a luau in respects to his love for Hawaii, and an April 4th of July celebration in memory of his favorite holiday.
